TxSWANA Recognizes Dallas for Safety Improvements
During its annual conference April 20, 2018 the Lone Star Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of America (TxSWANA) recognized the City of Dallas for making significant safety improvements since last year. Dallas applied for, but didn't win, the organization's signature safety award, the Jimmy Huff. The competitive Jimmy Huff Safety Award is given to the organization which has the largest reduction in time lost due to work-related injury or illness from one year to the next.
Although Dallas didn't have the largest year to year reduction, TxSWANA judges were so impressed with Dallas' progress to improve its record, a special recognition was created for the City of Dallas. Dallas Sanitation Services assistant director Dennis Ware accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
