​​Identity Theft and Deceased Defendants

Identity Theft:

If you receive a letter from a collection agency or the Court regarding past-due citations and you feel this information is incorrect, you must provide the following information to the Court.​ 

  • Copy of the letter you received from the collection agency or the Court, and​​
  • Acceptable form of identification (Social security cards and selfies (pictures) are NOT valid forms of identification)  
  • Copy of the police identity theft report or proof showing this is not you​
  • If you send the request by mail, you must also include all of the above, along with the​ Contact Information Form.

Deceased Defendants:​​

If you receive a letter from a collection agency or the Court regarding past-due citations and the person on the paperwork is deceased, you must provide the following information to the Court.​ 

  • Copy of the letter you received from the collection agency or the Court, and 
  • Copy of the death certificate or obituary​
  • If you send the request by mail, you must also include everything above, along with the Contact Information Form​ for the person making the request.​

​​You may provide proof by mail or in person at the Court. Live chat, phone, and email are NOT valid options.​ Once the Court receives the paperwork, this process can take 4-6 weeks to complete by mail. You can keep track of the citation(s) online under the Citation Search​. We also offer Walk-In Court​​ hours to speak with a judge i​n person.​​

The Court uses the postmark date on the letter (stamped by the postal service) as the received date.  Certified mail is recommended but not required.​

To review Citation(s), Status, or Balances. Example: (C12345678​ Do not enter the dash). If the citation(s) are in Warrants, they will appear in red.​
