Downtown Elmwood in an area generally along both sides of Edgefield Avenue from Tennessee Avenue to the alley south of Newport Avenue, both sides of Balboa Drive between Pioneer Drive and Berkley Avenue, both sides of Ferndale Avenue from the alley east of Tennessee Avenue to the alley east of Balboa Drive, both sides of Brunner Avenue between Balboa Drive and Edgefield Drive, and both sides of Newport Avenue between Balboa Drive and Edgefield Drive, and containing approximately 14 acres.

BACKGROUND

On February 28, 2024, Dallas City Council there was a public hearing and consideration of Downtown Elmwod Authorized Hearing case #Z178-142 . The case was approved. Ordinance pending.

On January 18, 2024, the City Plan Commission recommended approval of a WMU-3 Walkable Urban Mixed-Use District and a Shopfront Overlay on a portion.

On October 26, 2022, Dallas City Council approved recommendations of the West Oak Cliff Area Plan (WOCAP).

On November 9, 2017, the City Plan Commission initiated a zoning case to determine proper zoning with consideration to be given to appropriate zoning for the area including  use, development standards , and other appropriate regulations.
