Bike Lane Sweeping

The City's Street Sweeping program uses specialized small-size sweepers that can fit between bike lane separators and the curb to clean and clear the city's physically separated bike lanes. The city currently has two bike lane sweepers. The street sweeping program maintains a regular sweeping schedule and additionally responds to 311 requests when interim maintenance is requested.

For more information about the City's general Street Sweeping Program and thoroughfare street sweeping, see Street Sweeping.

How to Submit Sweeping Requests to 311

Street sweeping requests can be directed to 3-1-1 when dialing from inside the city limits, or (214) 670-5111 when dialing from outside the city limits. Sweeping needs can also be reported online through Dallas 311 Home, or with the Dallas 311 app. If reporting online or through the app:

  • Use the "Street Sweeping – Thoroughfares" and indicate that the bike lane is in need of sweeping.
    • Sweeping requests are responded to within 24 to 48 hours.

Bike Lane Maintenance and Repair

General restriping and maintenance of bike lanes is governed by the City's maintenance schedule, which generally performs maintenance and replacement of bike lane infrastructure approximately every four years. If repairs or replacements for bike lane separators or re-striping for bike lane markings are needed sooner, the City prioritizes maintenance needs reported via 311.
