Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
HRIS is responsible for Core HCM (Human Capital Management) — the foundational HR functions that maintain the employee record and support day-to-day HR transactions (worker profile/job data, org structure/reporting relationships, hires/job changes/transfers/promotions/separations, approvals tied to employee data, and standard HR reporting/data integrity).
Workday History
The City of Dallas began its Workday modernization journey in 2018 by procuring Workday HCM and Talent subscriptions as part of a multi-phase effort to modernize HR systems and improve the employee experience.
- 2018 – Workday HCM/Talent subscriptions procured
- June 2020 – Phase 1 Go-Live: Workday HCM & Payroll available to employees
- February 2024 – Talent module Go-Live
- 2024 (Phased Deployments) – Benefits, Advanced Compensation, Performance, and Learning & Development modules launched
Since its initial implementation, the City has continued expanding Workday capabilities to create a more integrated, transparent, and employee-centered HR ecosystem.
