Scope and Content

Collection contains posters from city departments and organizations, including Dallas Water Utilities, the Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Dallas Zoo.  They advertise events, such as the 100th Anniversary of the Majestic Theater, Festival in the Park, the Dallas Senior Games, and Water Conservation Week.

The posters offer insight into departmental activities, public engagement efforts, and the artistic styles of the particular year.  The posters are in various sizes and colors.

Water Conservation Week has been marked by Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) since 1985.  DWU and its communities collaborate in recognizing the vital role water plays in people's daily lives.  Dallas-area schools hold an artwork contest where students draw or color posters showing how water is essential to their daily lives.  Each year's poster winners are recognized at Dallas City Hall.

The collection is arranged first by subject then by date.
