The Dallas Municipal Archives is open Monday through Friday for phone and email research.  On-site research appointments are available between 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday by appointment only (last appointment at 3:00 pm).

The Archives is not open on nights or weekends and is closed for all city, and many federal, holidays.

To set an appointment, email the following information:

—The date and time you would like to visit
—The collection names and numbers for your research
—The box and folder numbers you would like to see.  We must have this information a minimum of
    twenty-four hours before the appointment.

Location

The Dallas Municipal Archives is located at 1500 Marilla Street on the second below-ground floor of Dallas City Hall in Room L2 D North.  City Hall is divided into three color-coded elevator cores; use the red elevator core, and press L2.  (The security officers can tell you how to find the red ones.)  When the elevator doors open on L2, look for two red doors.  Walk down the hallway to the right of those two doors to the Archives, the only door on the right.

City Hall has two street-level entrances.  One is on the east side of the building near Ervay; the other entrance is on the City Hall Plaza on the north side of the building.

Parking

Inexpensive, all-day lots are located on both Canton Street and Ervay Street.  The City Hall horseshoe lot contains public parking with timed parking meters. Visitor parking is not available in the City Hall underground.
