Scope and Content
Collection contains administrative files of the Dallas Transit Master Plan Committee.
The Dallas Transit Master Plan Committee formed on December 18, 1961, via Council Action 616058 to recommend a course of action offering the best solution for public transportation across Dallas County. The committee investigated automobile, bus, and rail options. It studied options, surveying transit in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, and other major cities.
The preliminary report offered no tangible steps, stating that Dallas should take into account all types of mass transportation options but that it should not do so in a vacuum. The city should coordinate efforts with other North Texas cities to successfully implement beneficial transportation. The collection does not include the final report.
Organization
The collection is arranged by subject.
