Scope and Content

Formally titled Final Conservation Treatment Report: Six Sculptures on the Esplanade at Fair Park, Dallas, Texas, the document is an art conservation treatment report for sculptures by Lawrence Tenney Stevens and Raoul Jousset at Fair Park, Dallas, Texas.  The sculptures were created in 1935-36 for the Texas Centennial Exposition, which ran from June 6 to November 29, 1936.

On each side of the Esplanade's pool are two 100'-by-175' courtyards dedicated to the regions of Texas. Featured in the courtyards are statues that symbolize the six governments that have ruled over Texas—Spain, France, The Republic of Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederate States, and the United States.

The 20-foot statues face each other; Josset the French-American sculptor, created the representative forms for Mexico, Spain, and France while American-born sculptor Lawrence Tenney Stevens designed the figures representing Spain, the Confederacy, and the Republic of Texas.

The report's parts consist of Identification of the Objects; Conservation Treatment Report; Materials Suppliers; Materials Specifications and Material Safety Data Sheets; and Photographic Documentation.
