Scope and Content

The contents of this collection were created and/or put together by a city Commission meant to examine redistricting the city of Dallas, and to come up with a plan to do so.  The collection contains correspondence and messages pertaining to the work of the Commission, along with district maps of the city that are further broken down by population demographics.  One section of the collection is devoted to examining the role of race in relation to redistricting, and how race was factored into decision-making along with what was needed to gain approval for submission.  There is also a copy of the proposal of the plan broken down into six individual books that was submitted for approval in June 2002.

The collection is confined to one box.
