Scope and Content

Utilities service pricing in Dallas was once regulated by negotiated agreement between the franchise and the City of Dallas Supervisor of Public Utilities. As it previously existed under Section 137 of the Dallas City Code, the supervisor was empowered to examine utilities within the city limits of Dallas and ensure the operations of the companies "shall be conducted in such a way as to provide high standards of service at the lowest possible cost to the citizens of Dallas."

Collection contains annual reports of Dallas public utility services corporations between 1911 and 1922.

The collection is arranged chronologically and by the following three subjects:

• Franchises for Natural Gas Companies
• Franchises for Electric Power and Electric Railways
