​Vis​ion Zero projects

The City of Dallas has ongoing short- and long-term projects under way along with the Vision Zero Action Plan. They include:

  • Camp Wisdom Road between Cockrell Hill Road and Interstate 35
  • Ferguson Road between Interstates 30 and 635
  • Gas​ton Avenue between the 3G intersection (Gaston/Garland/Grand) and Washington Avenue
  • Jupiter Road​ between Garland Road and Interstate 635
  • ​Lake June Road between U.S. 175 and Cheyenne Road (Dallas City Limits)
  • Loop 12*​ Ledbetter Drive/Great Trinity Forest Way/Buckner Boulevard (in coordination with TXDOT and NCTCOG)
  • Malcolm X Boulevard between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Elsie Faye Heggins Street
  • ​Maple Avenue between Oak Lawn Drive and Mockingbird Lane
  • Masters Drive/St. Augustine Road between U.S. 175 and Military Parkway
  • Webb Chapel Road/Lombardy Lane between Harry Hines Boulevard and Shorecrest Drive

General project timeline

Projects unfold through several phases of development and construction. The public is engaged throughout the process through community meetings and public comment periods. The length of a project can vary depending on factors such as funding. Here​​​ is a general timeline that projects follow:

General project phases from planning to design to construction 

Master plan(s): Conceptual phase. General ideas for potential projects are outlined in long-term planning documents. 

Project development: Ideas move toward reality. Scope is determined, which includes details such as key design components, budget estimates, etc.

Early design: Preliminary engineering layout based on field visits.

Final design: Adjustments are incorporated into the final design and the project is ready for construction.

Pre-construction: Project goes out for bid and a company is selected.

Construction: Work begins.

​Wrap-up: Reviewing work to ensure the project meets the scope and closing out the project.​
