Spring 2025 Final Comment Period (Phase 5)

Following the input received during Phase 4 public engagement for the Dallas Bike Plan, changes were made to the Plan. The changes that were reviewed in this input opportunity include establishing a "north star", an updated implementation plan, and changes to routes in the network. This final public input opportunity was available online via a project website. This opportunity has closed, but the public engagement website content can be viewed here: Dallas Bike Plan Update Final Comment Period

This engagement opportunity closed Sunday, March 30.

Summer 2024 Area-Specific Engagement (Phase 4)

As the update to the Dallas Bike Plan was being wrapped up at the end of 2023, it was determined that some network refinements were needed prior to the plan being adopted. These meetings occurred in May and June, 2024. These meetings influenced updates to the draft plan to address some additional themes around the "north star" to guide the plan, more details around the implementation and phasing plan, defining the amendment process, and defining the tools for measuring the plan's success.

The input period for these meetings is now closed, but meeting materials are available to view below.

Katy Trail Alternate Route Public Meeting

The purpose of this meeting was to identify a potential preferred alignment and bicycle facility type for a connection from the American Airlines Center to Knox Henderson, Mockingbird Station, and beyond; parallel to the popular Katy Trail. This route is intended to provide a comfortable alternative for cyclists who wish to make this connection but want to avoid the crowded and slower conditions of the Katy Trail.

Check out the draft Bike Plan, revised Bike Network webmap, and priority projects. The public comment period was open from June 19 to July 16, 2023.

Residents were asked to comment on the draft plan and network through an online survey. A scavenger hunt was created around the priority projects and residents were encouraged to submit photos of themselves on bike around Dallas for a chance to win a gift card provided by sponsors.

Fall 2022 Engagement Opportunity (Phase 2)

A proposed Bike Network webmap was made available to review the proposed draft network. Public comments were accepted between October 19 and November 13, 2022.

There were many comments on:

  • Network connectivity
  • Separated bike lane maintenance (sweeping and separator device)
  • Preference for more separation with sturdy devices types including concrete

The City hosted a series of seven fun, interactive events across the city. The events were co-hosted with the Planning & Urban Design Department, and participants were able to learn about the ForwardDallas Land Use Plan update as well as provide comments on the proposed bicycle network.
