Scope and Content
Collection consists of program allocation summaries of the bond-financed capital improvement programs for the City of Dallas for 1958, 1962, and 1964.
To fund capital improvement projects such as library improvements and improvements to infrastructure, the citizens of the City of Dallas are periodically asked to authorize the city to issue and sell bonds to finance identified improvement needs. Between 1958 and 1964, citizens' identified improvements included park and recreation facilities, street systems, waterworks systems, and fire station construction, among others.
The 1958 bond election was held on December 2, 1958, to vote for seven capital improvement propositions totaling $51,800,000. Ordinance 7833. All propositions passed. Canvass Report: File Number 58-5246.
The 1962 bond election was held on January 23, 1962, to vote for seven capital improvement propositions totaling $50,700,000. Ordinance 9092. All propositions passed. Canvass Report: File Number 62-336.
The 1964 bond election was held on April 7, 1964, to vote for seven capital improvement propositions totaling $52,500,000. Ordinance 10-232. All propositions passed. Canvass Report: Minute Book Volume 150, p. 504-511.
