Collection consists of correspondence, memos, reports, notes, newspaper clippings, government publications, and other publications documenting Sid Stahl's involvement in various issues and activities relating to the Dallas Park and Recreation Department.
Sid Stahl was president of the Dallas Park Board from 1975 to 1979. This collection documents Stahl’s involvement in various issues and activities relating to the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, including the
- construction of the Bachman Therapeutic Recreation Center
- establishment of the Dallas Arboretum on the grounds of the Everette DeGolyer estate
- plans for construction of new arts facilities and development of the Dallas Arts District
- restoration of the Majestic Theatre
- creation of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s “Sidewalk Symphony” concert series
Sid Stahl spent 33 years with the Dallas law firm of Geary, Stahl & Spencer, specializing in litigation, corporate, real estate, banking, and securities law. In 1991, he established a solo practice in mediation and arbitration. In addition to his practice in Texas, Stahl serves as Adjunct Professor on the faculty of the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. He served on the Dallas City Council 1980-1983 and as a board member of several agencies of the State of Texas.
