Scope and Content
Typescript manuscript and printed materials documenting the government of the Town of Honey Springs, Dallas County, Texas, and its annexation to the City of Dallas.
The Town of Honey Springs, Texas, was incorporated under Texas statutes in 1937 and comprised 1,639.6 acres of land located approximately west of the junction of Interstate Highway 45 and Illinois Avenue. It existed as an unincorporated town dating to 1886. It remained an independent municipality of about 340 until citizens voted to dissolve its corporation in February 1946. The town was annexed to the City of Dallas on December 18, 1946.
The bulk of the collection contains the Town of Honey Springs’s articles of incorporation, its ordinances and Board of Aldermen meeting minutes, governmental correspondence and manuscript notes, and files regarding elections, zoning, and other governmental activities.
