Scope and Contents 

Collection consists of  Dallas City Council inauguration materials from 1980 to 1983, including peripheral materials.

Although the inauguration activities for the Dallas City Council have varied over many decades, they often include a pre-ceremony breakfast or luncheon, the ceremony itself, the mayor's State of the City address, a post-inauguration reception, and a ceremonial first council meeting.  Included in the collection is a 1980 copy of the Rules of Procedure, which establishes the guidelines to be followed by all persons in the council chambers.
