Direct Design Projects​

​Combining the disciplines of city planning, architecture, and landscape architecture, the department’s team of urban designers work to advance livability and quality of life through design of the physical environment. The Design Studio provides site-specific conceptual planning and design services for various types of City-funded projects and site-specific development opportunities through three key direct design services.

Corridor Design
The Design Studio provides street-related direct design services focused on Complete Streets principles where streets are safe and comfortable for everyone.

Open Space Design
The Design Studio delivers design services that plan, create or improve open spaces, trails, and parks to sustain, inspire and invigorate our community and citizens. Through community input and design, we strive for equity and seek to maximize economic, health, environmental, social, and overall quality of life benefits.

Strategic Development Site Design
We work with communities, citizens, staff, land-owners, developers, and design professionals to strategically explore future development concepts strategically to leverage existing assets and maximize opportunities for innovative solutions to urban challenges.
